Description
Hellfire Bluff’s Barrel Aged Sloe Gin is a small-batch Tasmanian sloe gin liqueur, handcrafted on-site at our distillery on the rugged southeast coast of Tasmania. Made from wild Tasmanian sloe berries foraged from rural hedgerows, this expression has been carefully steeped in a crisp London Dry gin before spending ten months maturing in a seasoned Tokay cask.
Born from an 18-month journey, this limited release reveals a deep garnet hue with amber edges and a rich, viscous texture.
The nose opens with lush aromas of stewed plum, rosehip, and blackberry compote, layered with orange peel, vanilla pod, toasted oak, and a subtle honeyed warmth from the Tokay cask.
On the palate, bright tart berry notes give way to a rounded, complex body of caramelised fig, dried apricot, and cocoa nib. A gentle pastry-like sweetness and soft oxidative character from the cask balance beautifully with the earthy botanicals of the gin.
The finish is long and warming, with candied citrus, soft tannins, and a lingering richness reminiscent of fortified wine, lifted by a delicate sloe bitterness for structure.
An elegant, winter-spiced sloe gin where wild Tasmanian fruit meets dessert-wine opulence. Best enjoyed neat, over ice, or as the base of a dark-fruited Negroni.
